Horses

These are two horses that live on my family’s ranch, Starsque and Bambizon. Two Arabians we’ve had for more years than I can count.

Starque is a fast, graceful runner who is very intuitive to the people around her, and the rider on her back. It’s as if she can tell how skilled a rider is, and won’t do anything she thinks the rider can’t handle.

Bambizon is a bit of a character. He’ll buck and carry on in the field like a fool, but as soon as you throw a blanket on his back, he’s all business. Not as intuitive as Starsque when it comes to reading the rider, Bambi is more personable on the ground, and acts like a big dog, following people around and licking them when he can. It’s funny. And a little gross sometimes.

And so you know… Nikon F4, Nikon Nikkor 35-70mm, Kodak Tri-X 400 (most important bit… Camera doesn’t matter) and a Tiffen #2 Yellow filter.

Starque walks by in the long grass.

And… Bambi ducked at just the wrong time.
